Copy the HfxEdt5.vfx file from program files/pinnacle/hollywoodfx5/Host
Plugins/Edition
Into…
Program files/Adobe/Premiere 6.5/Plug-ins/.
Possibly, rename to “FX-HfxEdt5.prm”.

That was a tough one. I can usually solve join-points issues.

To fix this, you could draw a solid on top of the subject, select all, then Pathfinder/Divide.
Now you will have a ‘fixed’ version of the subject, end-points connected.
Expand, delete the unneeded stuff, and clear the fills.

You should be able to do this in AE.
You could use masks to control the revealing of the video on the cards.
You might use motion tracking to lock the videos to any motion there might be in the cards.
You might also need something to control a 3d aspect, skewing, or something like that. You can work in a 3d space in AE. But, I’m not sure exactly what techniques you might want to use.

This could not have been done within a DV project.

You indicated that you are working in a DV project file. Did you use one of the presets?

If the project is not a DV project, you could try importing the original project into a DV project.

Sounds like the Frame size and frame rate will both need to be scaled down/reduced. I’m sure there are many methods available to do this, and that results will vary based on the method used.

Maybe check your DV project settings, particularly the Hardware options. Ensure that the DV hardware options are enabled.

I can’t remember where the setting is, right now, but there is somewhere that you can detect the DV device, within the project settings. If the device is not detected, I think there is a button where you can attempt to update the list of supported devices.
Make sure the device is connected and powered.

Is the tape hardware, that you are trying to print to, a DV device?

I’m afraid I can’t offer more specific information with regard to converting a HD project to SD.

If you get a chance, update your profile with your OS and hardware specs (ram, processor, etc.), so we can see what you are working with.

My system uses a non-SSE processor. Although I can install and run CS3+ Adobe products there are a number of functions that won’t work within the applications. I’ve had to revert to CS2, and max out at PP 1.5, and AE 6.5.

I could be mistaken, as I’m on CS2. But, I think you just File/Save As, then there will be a drop-down where you can select an earlier version.

When you say ‘I found the file under windows’, do you mean C:WINDOWS?
If so, you should never manually do anything in that directory or sub-directory, unless you really know what you are doing.
You may have permanently damaged the system registry or something.

Application Data is a folder, not a file.

Under Tools/Folder Options/View you should make sure you have ‘Show hidden files’ checked. As, Application Data is a hidden folder.
You can only find hidden items, with Search, by modifying the preferences, under ‘Change preferences’ within the search panel, to include hidden items in the search results. But, I wouldn’t worry about doing that.

Make sure you are in an account with Administrator privileges. Than..
My Computer/C:/Doc’s & Set’s/*user*/Application Data…

I don’t have an answer to your initial question, I just became concerned when I read your last post.

I’m using an earlier version of AI, so I may not be seeing the file as you intended..
I’m seeing a single looped, closed path.

Anyway.

Maybe you could select the object, then press ‘C’ to enable the Scissor Tool, zoom into the left end of the object and click on the outermost point with the tool. Then, do the same on the right side.
You now have two paths, an upper and a lower, and can simply delete one.

This doesn’t really merge or average any of the points, but it should give you a good cut path.

Hmmm. Sorry for misguiding you, I’ve never used v6. Perhaps the motion parameter is the way to go, and disregard the Transform suggestion.

I’m afraid it sounds like there are significant differences in the interface, that I’d only be guessing as to a solution.

I use PP 1.5 and the motion params are in a tab next to the monitor.
I see the parameters, and the keyframe markers.

I wonder, if you were to move the CTI to the beginning of the clip, set the motion param to resize it and position it.. Then, move the CTI to the end of the clip and do the same, if that would do the trick – keep the resized clip in one place.

Again, I’m sorry, as I’m just guessing.

I realize this is a late response…

Anyway, since you’ve defined the output as DVD, use that frame size as your standard.

Scale all footage to the frame size of your final output.

Your project settings should also match your desired output. Use the DVD presets.
If your project does not match the the desired output, create a new project that does, than import the original project into the correct one and repair.

If your footage is interlaced, it must be deinterlaced before scaling, up or down.
