Barend, While we are on the c4d integration subject, I was wondering… why is it was so hard to get a hold of that AE import plugin … or am I missing something ?
I am still working with a 5.5 plugin that I found on some guy’s website for download a year or so back. After some extensive googling I could only find a outdated Maxon page with nothing there.
Any ideas ?

I think many people were expecting more 3d features.
But then we are probaly talking about a years of work here for the amount of changes that would be needed to actually make it worthwhile, and I don’ t think Adobe has any interest in that. I would however like to see better integration with popular 3d apps, although there has been some progress made, it just still seems tedious, c4d being the best option I’ve found for ae so far.
I would love to hear more from people who purchased it.

For render time you’ ll want speed and processing power. For you that means a better cpu, dual core probably the way to go since you already have a p4. The bus speed is also going to play a major role here, as well as ram speed.
Increasing ram at this point will only allow you to render more into preview, but not much faster.

Just to answer your original question, you should definetly export as uncompressed, whether you are going to Premiere or any other editor. DV was designed for camcorders, not for compositing or animation applications. Even if you are working with original DV footage, AE will have to recompress a second time.

Have you tried moving the video layers on their z axis. Is this hapening on all of them ?

More info would be helpful. What is your source footage ? What do you render to ? Uncompressed or using a codec ?

There is always Effects>Simulation>CCSnow, not sure if it is in all versions of After Effects.

The truth is that most cable companies probably won’t carry that kind of resolution for a long time. since we all know that quantity comes before quality…
I’d be happy with a 42 inch 720p plasma myself 😉
But it would be nice to have when those blue ray DVD’s come out.
