I’m going to take a wild guess.. probably a bug-(.

Are rendering to avi or Quicktime ?

    Have you tried both ?

When that happens, I usually start disabling all third party plugs, especailly with AE7.

After that it’s layers at the time.

    Good luck

Actually, I believe these are simply lens flares (I’m sure Chris will correct me if I am wrong)

Another way is using a plugin I just love, trapcode Lux. You’ll be able to project a light beam as well (Means spending a little 😉

You probably meant to post in the After Effects forum.

Just to answer your question, yes you can open a additional windows for any layers.

Hold ctr (pc) and double click on the layer. That will open that layer’s own window.

The simplest way for 4 comp windows: Window>workspace>4 Comp view.

My vote will go to Cinema 4d simply because of its integration with After affects.

In the end you have to look at two important factors.

    1) Will you always be working on your own or with an another company ?

If you will be working with another company, Maya will likely be what they are using… (Things may change however.)

    2) How much money do you want to spend in the near future… Again, as mentionned above, C4d is likely the cheaper option

Other than that, I don’ t think there really is a BETTER 3d app in the top apps previously listed.

    Cheers,
