At $299 Apple couldn’t have made it any easier for pro users to afford purchasing both FCP X & Avid.

I must admit. I was caught up in the whole Apple presentation. Flashy, fast, and impressive. Many of the new features got overwhelming cheers from me as well. but after letting it all settle for a while, it seems there are more questions now than during the entire run of the rumors. I understand that this was only a demo, but I am not in agreement with the select few who have seen the demo before tonight. well actually I am. For $299 it is amaizing.

When Show Duplicate Frames is turned on in a sequence’s settings and a clip appears more than once within a single edited sequence, the duplicate frames are marked by a colored bar appearing at the bottom of the clip’s video item in the Timeline.
However, if the duplicated frames fall outside the boundaries of the clip in the Timeline or fall within a transition, a special indicator—four white dots—appears where the duplicate frames are located. The dots can appear on either side or both sides of the transition. The side of the transition the dots appear on indicates the clip or clips that use duplicate frames. When you zoom out, the white dots decrease in range from four to zero, depending on the zoom level.
Timeline Options is in your User Preferences.
hope that helps

Although I welcome any news about a new Final Cut Studio, I can’t help but wonder.
What is that speaker we are all focused on talking about, and who exactly is that throwing the Sledge Hammer at the screen in 1984? Hey! Is that me in the third row of the Supermeet?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYecfV3ubP8

I would like to believe that I am employed because I have some talent. But hey what do I know. After all it is April Fools Day.
As for the Zombie Movie and Car Commercial presets. I am sure if that were the case, it would get old pretty fast in the professional setting. Those able to move on from the presets and create something new will continue to work and be creative.
I can imagine what the film editors of old said about the next generation of Linear Editors.
As a Linear editor of old, I remember what I thought of the first Non-Linear edit system I saw. “WOW!”I hope to say the same about whats released at this years NAB.

In Regards to Post Production Services Companies down 24%.
I know of a few local post companies that have evolved to provide pre-production, production, post, multimedia support, web development, and content distribution.
Does this still qualify a company as being listed as only post production services? As for the release of more cost effective equipment/software (Final Cut Studio). I welcome their arrival. It allows me to collaborate with some of the best in the field when I freelance, and allows me to deliver a higher end product when I work on my own projects.

Promise

and LaCie
https://www.lacie.com/us/products/product.htm?id=10549
have both jumped in on the desktop Raid, but those devices are not out for sale yet.
Only NAB will know who the other major players are and if it is viable for a large networked raid solution.
So far most of what I have seen it demoed as, is a desktop product bringing incredibly high transfer speeds to local users. Thunderbolt is still in its infancy, so anything can become of it in the future. Very exciting.Victor

By the original time code number of 00:00:01:01 it seems that you captured the media via Capture “NOW”as opposed to Log Clip and then Batch Capture, etc…
In my opinion you would have to capture this clip again manually using Capture Now (with a slightly different name to make it easier to figure out which clip is new and which is older) and hopefully you can time it so FCP will start the record prior to the 00:00:01:01 timecode start of your DV version. Then just reconnect manually to the new clip.Another workaround ( !!!!! CAUTION !!!!! ) would be to make your clip offline. and change the timecode in the bin adding a few seconds to the in point of the problem clip. This way you will now have about 5 seconds of pre-roll for your tape machine to lock. Of course this is assuming that you Do Not Already Use the very beginning of this clip in your sequence.
Before making your clip offline, copy it to your desktop temporarily in case this does not work. That way you can just replace the offline clip in your capture scratch with the one you saved on your desktop. This is just in case recapturing this way fails. You still have the original clip somewhere to save your DV edit.
Hope that helps.
