Can you just key out whatever is inside the frame and place the movie behind it? If not Mocha for Final Cut is a great program to Roto out an arm or any object moving across your image. It simplifies the process and in turn costs money. If you are on a serious budget like most of us you can also copy the background layer and place it over the Video insert that will go in your frame and use the garbage matte to cut out everything else except the arm moving across. And yes… that does sound like a lot of work.

I also backup everything to an external HD during post (just in case of a total raid failure) and then when a project is done I back it up to my archival HDs. Currently I am looking at Blu-Ray as a secondary final backup. It just helps me sleep better knowing I have 2 sources of an archived project. Thats just me. Of course its a little extra work to update the backups if/when the project gets revised, but I can deal with that. At work we use a Quantum LTO for backup, but thats a bit much for my personal needs. Although we have never had a problem with the Quantum. Its been solid for the 2 years its been in use.

I am looking at some player/burners from Pioneer (up to 12x Blu-ray burn) ) and LG (8x Blu-ray burn). The prices seem great at under $260 each. Toast would be a bit more, but still looking around for the best deal.

Have you checked in you Mac’s System Preferences, under the Energy Saver option, that the ‘Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible’ is unchecked.
As for economical external drives I sometimes use OWC’s Elite-Al Pro (Raid-0) to edit
and their Guardian MAXimus (Raid-1) to backup media / project files incase of failure to the Elite-Al Pro.
Currently waiting for Black Friday to decide on a new Cal-Digit Raid for bigger projects.Victor

I use DH_Reincarnation and it has worked well with me in the past, but I have not yet had to use it in projects that were sent to Color. I use it on HD material that is mostly mastered to SD or the web. It is very easy to use and has worked seamlessly in around 80-90 % of the times needed. In those that are not seamless it is still very difficult to notice unless you are clearly looking for the pixel.

The AUTO SELECT CONTROL on your timeline is what helps determine where your paste goes.
Turn all video Auto Select buttons off.
Copy a video clip from track one.
Paste clip at the end of your sequence to test.
Turn on the Auto Select button on track V2.
Paste clip again at the end of your sequence.What happened?

If you NEST your photo with all the keyframes you can open the nest in viewer this gives you another way to move your photo keeping all your keyframes intact inside the nest. Then you can Resize, Distort. Move, etc… keeping all the primary keyframes inside the nest in tact.

Not exactly sure what problem you are encountering with the ins and outs. I guess you might have to start from the beginning to figure out what is happening with your transitions. How exactly are you editing the transitions onto the sequence? Are you manually dragging them to the edit point? Are you right clicking on the edit and selecting Add Transition?
besides this and what others have posted it should work. Try it again from the start.
