ALL DVD players in Europe can play NTSC, but not all TVs will show that signal. Check with your client.

IMHO the speed change in Cinema Tools is the way to go. FCP will add frame-blending which adds double-contours on movements. The speed change will look cleaner.

The new Soundtrack Pro can take care of the speed change in audio.

Well, short GOPs are a trade-off between coping with very fast changes in the image (like hand-drawn animation) and the need of a higher data rate.

The usual half second data rate is kind of a “sweet spot” for typical footage from a camera.

Don’t set your data rate too high for DVD-R, many players start choking beyond 8 or 8.5 mbps. For replicated disks you can go all the way to 10.08

Strange! While mine is a 2.33 GHz Intel 2 Core Duo, that shouldn’t make such a difference. My graphics card is the X1600 as well, albeit with 256 MB. Again this shouldn’t stop you from playing it. Do I understand you well, you get an image on the external screen, but it doesn’t play, right?

One thing, though: You mention the throughput of your e-SATA. Those 3 gbit/s are only the theoretical speed of the connection. The actual speed depends on your drive and a single drive won’t cut it. I use a two-drive RAID-0 through e-SATA.

Yes, into a MacPro with three extra drives RAIDed (we are using them uncompressed too) and Blackmagic’s Infinty. Works like a charm, we are using it for chroma-keying.

Who would have imagined this only two years ago?
