So does this mean that any customized Templates based on Sony AVC should be discarded with Vegas 11? Their new counterparts in MainConcept AVC should be used to make any customized Templates.
I have Vegas 11 but haven’t installed it yet after seeing the hit/miss threads here.

In the interim, could you not create a Template in Vegas 11 that is identical to Vegas 10’s Internet 1280×720-30p? You would have to change the Frame size to Custom and set Width and Height accordingly and duplicate the other values.

March 20, 2012 at 1:04 am in reply to: Need video soon-Vegas 11 Pro not rendering footage with lots of masking and cropping properlyCan you take the jpg:
1. put it into Vegas 10, same project properties as the Vegas 11 project
2. add the p/c and masking
3. render as .mov (animation) …
4. put that clip back into your Vegas 11 project?Tis a workaround, but it might suffice …

First, since it always fails at given point, I’d make a Region around that area and render that region. If it fails, then splitting into parts won’t fix anything.
If you were to render to (eg) avi (uncompressed) or mov (photo-jpg), then you could probably combine the files together and re-render. I wouldn’t expect much loss in quality from the inital renders.

Is it possible to break the “render” into multiple parts, and combine later? If so, break it into thirds, then try the middle section first (the one where your render always stops).

You could use IrfanView’s Batch Conversion, Advanced options to crop (from left top) the images to exactly 1920 x 1080. Use these images in your Vegas project.
Since this is a destructive edit, do this on a COPY of your original media.

If you have “recognizable” clip names, then you can:
1. View, Edit Details (alt-6)
2. Show Events (droplist)
3. Select All (top, left cell [above 1, left of Track])
4. Copy
5. Open Excel, Paste
6. Filter out any rows you need/don’t need using the Active Take Name column to identify your Vegas timeline events
7. Use Excel’s Summation tool on the Length column to add the times -
Parent-child projects.
Make a copy of your project (rename it).
Delete all but the track you need masked.
Open the parent.
Insert a new track (perhaps above the original) and mute the original.
Nest this child into the new track.
Apply the P/C Mask event(s) you need on the nested proejct.Hope that works.

I don’t think you can put an m2t back into the Vegas timeline.
If you need an alpha channel, then you must use one of:
a. avi, uncompressed
b. mov, animation
c. mov, png <— this one seems to take a bloody long time to renderIf you don’t need an alpha channel, then I have found
d. mov, Photo JPEGto work quite nicely at 1920×1080.
If you have the storage space of the Enterprise-D, avi should work just fine too.

You will need a combination of Track Motion and Pan/Crop events.
Given a 1920×1080 workspace:Track Motion
1. -640, 270, 960, 540 (x, y, w, h)
2. 0, 270, 960, 540
3. 640, 270, 960, 540
4. -640, -270, 960, 540
5. 0, -270, 960, 540
6. 640, -270, 960, 540That will give you 6 tracks in which to fit your clips.
Assuming you have videos all the same size (eg, 1920×1080), each clip needs a mask event.Mask, 4 coordinates of the rectangle:
320, 0 … 1600, 0 … 1600, 1080 … 320, 1080this will make a rectangular mask that. You will be able to fit 3 across in a 1920 space.
If your videos are different sizes, then you need to adjust the Mask values and Track values accordingly.
