December 17, 2012 at 11:38 am in reply to: Ratio & Frame Rate Composition/Export Settings – Need AdviceA few things to clarify:
Your final delivery – from your post I take it that it is on DVD format. Will that be a NTSC (29.97 fps) or PAL (25fps) for playback on a regular DVD player? Or are you planning on a BluRay 1440×1080 output on DVD (yes you can burn BluRay files on a regular DVD and play them back on a BluRay player)?
Animation 1- you say it’s 1080p 25 but then you mention a 29.97 frame rate- which one is it?
As far as the AE projects- change the Composition format (Composition Settings) to match the Premiere settings for frame rate, size and pixel aspect ratio. You can also change these in the Render Settings.
If you have a mac and can use ProRes- that would be a good way to go, if not, QT Animation is a decent uncompressed codec but it delivers large files.

turn motion blur on for the layer. If that does not do it apply a small blur- .3 to .5

work at 32 bit and animate a red to hot white yellow gradient inside a disk that matches your exhaust with a pulsating glow.
Then use a animated fractal noise layer to displace the layer on top of itself and cut and animate a mask to create the trail.
You may also try to apply an adjustment layer with a radial blur with zoom on the exhaust edge area and mask that with a feathered edge.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

Here’s a AE only way of achieving the result:
create a solid, apply Fractal Noise and play with the settings to create a animated texture.
Use that texture as a displacement map for your shot.
Use the same duplicated texture with CC Light Rays to create soft rays of light that add to the murky water feel.
Use Particle World to create floating particles (precompose and Time remap the precomp for slow moving particles).
Also you may want to add a Camera Lens Blur to soften the image.
Lastly, a vignette may also help along with color grading the final to match the kind of water hue you are looking to replicate.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

You can also render from AE- I get very good MPEG2 results.
4 should be good enough- no need for 5.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

You have a better chance to get results if you post this on the COW’s Jobs forum.

December 12, 2012 at 7:29 am in reply to: What is the difference between Resolution in Preview panel and in Composition PanelYou are correct- the resolution in the Composition Panel determines the quality of what you see there when you work on your project, while the other determines the quality of your RAM preview.

Usually this kind of setup (infinity wall – common for white background) is built using drywall that can be curved between the walls and floor and the walls themselves at the corner. Chroma paint is used to cover the structure.

December 11, 2012 at 8:59 pm in reply to: movement between two similar keyframesYou have to set the interpolation to linear for those keyframes – if you don’t then you will have that movement.
