Is all the original footage you used in your templates on the local hard drive or on a external drive?

If you want to replicate the camera data in AE and the camera has 3d moves, then you can’t use mocha. To track just the screen- render your animation with basic shading and track with Mocha. The grid may make it more confusing- Mocha is looking for more info that’s not there.

If your move is 3d then you need a 3d tracker- Syntheyes on Boujou

A few things that may help us:
1- What system are you on- Windows, Mac, os version…
2- What version of AE are you using?
3- Any upgrades you made to AE or system lately
4- What version of AE are your templates saved in?

iDVD is using QT files- Animation or DV are fine (DV is smaller size and much faster though and it does not seem to make much of a difference in the final compression that iDVD makes). Since you seem to have HD footage, you need to scale down the size of the output to fit a SD frame. You can do that in the output module of your render queue. Read up more on the adobe site.

Easiest way for DVD (assuming you want a regular DVD and not Blue Ray):
Use a QuickTime NTSC DV Widescreen preset on export(this will squeeze the video in a 4:3 frame, but it will look right on a 16:9 tv). You will have to resize (stretch) your footage to the same preset. Render out the .mov file and drop it in your iDVD 16:9 preset project. Burn to DVD and you are done.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

True- for rays of light coming through clouds you will need a lot of lights and you’ll need a 3d camera track, but there’s really no other way to get real volumetric lights in AE. You could do what you described and create some layers of rays and put them in 3d space but you will not get the same effect.

The issue is with the file you got to put graphics on- if you got a already compressed file, no matter how good that compression is, you will get a lower resolution on final export from AE. Ask for uncompressed files ( tga or tiff sequences), do your graphics and export from AE in an uncompressed format- this way you will not loose any quality. Your files should then be pulled in FCP and the final render should be done from there.

One way is to use Particular and motion pats – you would need a lot of lights as generators though to create the tunnel through which the camera travels.Check out videocopilot tutorials :
