September 12, 2010 at 9:36 pm in reply to: Exporting Comp to Flash Animation (and Keeping the File Size Small)If you choose to ignore then whatever animations/effects Flash can’t do like in AE will be missing. It can be something as simple as motion blur. Render out flv and you will get a smaller size for sure. If you export from CS5 as a flash project then make sure you choose to rasterize and not to ignore.

September 12, 2010 at 7:30 am in reply to: Exporting Comp to Flash Animation (and Keeping the File Size Small)IF you have CS5 you’re in luck- you can actually export your AE animation as a Flash project (xlf) and if you do not use any effects that Flash can’t handle (in which case the animation will be rasterized) all layers will be exported as vector layers.
If you do not have CS5, compress as .flv movie using Adobe Media Encoder and bring in to Flash- it will be smaller.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

Here are a couple of links for high resolution images of Mars- you can use those to create your zoom:

Also- use Google earth to see mars in 3d- screen grabs may help create an animation:

September 11, 2010 at 9:04 am in reply to: Changing the Color of a White Truck in postI agree with what Chris said- I also think that providing us with a few stills or a short clip would help. The solution is most times based on your source material.

September 9, 2010 at 8:31 pm in reply to: judder/jitter/stutter/jerky horizontal movementI found it useful to ad a .3 to .5 blur on animated stills (gaussian or reduce interlace flicker)

I was referring to multiple camera passes with a motion control rig- one with a real mirror and no actor, the second with real mirror and actor starting to walk from right in front of the mirror, and third with no mirror and actor steps through an empty frame. Still, you would need the second camera- like Dave mentioned for exact reflection.
You could get away with a locked on shot, RED 4k, and do a digital pan/zoom in post for a HD or 2K output, using the 3 passes mentioned above.
Or, you could build a simple virtual set in AE, have the actor shot on chroma, and have the camera move designed in such a way that you see the reflection of the actor only a few frames when he steps out of the frame. This way you can use the same shot and invert the footage of the actor and have real reflections from the animation in AE shot with a camera positioned opposite your main camera, using the same move.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

Is the mirror on the floor, suspended on a wall, in the middle of a room?
Do you have access in production to a motion control rig, to be able to do multiple passes?
How does the set in which the action takes place look like?
The storyboard of the scene?
All the above are crucial to determine the techniques you will use to make this happen- that is if you did not shoot already.
Best is always to go into production knowing exactly what you want to achieve and how you will do that from start to finish.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

September 9, 2010 at 7:30 am in reply to: Advice for set extending/Adding close BuildingsYes- Mocha is designed to work with AE. The new version is best, of course and CS5 works with it.

September 8, 2010 at 8:28 pm in reply to: Advice for set extending/Adding close BuildingsRED will give you a lot more to work with- so if you can, use that instead. Shoot at 4K all effects shots, even if your final will be 2k or HD. And get ready to upgrade the RAM on your AE workstation…
