I’m not sure I understand the issue- AE CS4 is a 32bit app. Even in snow leopard it will run as a 32 bit app….

Here’s a link to issues related to a PSD error that contains the same message:

  • Looks like a codec/card issue – search the forum for problems generated by Aja cards and codecs if you have one of those. If you don’t, hang in there, someone will have an answer.

First problem I see is that you’re trying to make a 2d plane do something a 3d object can do. Either you build a simple 3d set ( or better a 2.5 d matte painting) in AE and you use the camera exported from the track to shoot that, or you do it the old way, where you do a 2d track over the shot for position, rotation and scale and then you use a distortion plugin ( Mesh warp or bezier warp) to adjust the image.

3D stroke is 3d, the layer that it’s applied to should stay 2d- 3d stroke will respond to your AE camera.
Now for what you’re trying to do it seems to me that Zaxwerks Invigorator should be more appropriate- you can have a true 3d ring and 3d text that can rotate in opposite directions.

The only way I can think about doing that in AE is to duplicate your comp 8 times, select one camera in each duplicate comp and bring them all in in one master comp where you can fade in between the cameras.

Here’s a little trick that may help.
Step 1- apply the “Remove Grain” filter, play with the parameters of the filter until you get a uniform looking skin.
Step 2- duplicate the layer and mask out the face- feather the mask so that it will blend in .
Step 3- add grain back to match the original.

You can also try Beauty Box- it pretty much does the same.

Unfortunately there’s not short cuts for this one- I’m afraid you will need to familiarize yourself with the terms and start playing with the plugin. Finding some tutorials would help also.

Most likely is a matter of codecs- you are probably missing the codecs the original artist used to render out some of the files he was using.

December 16, 2010 at 10:11 am in reply to: Question about Aspect Ratio

The normal SD widescreen DVD resolution for NTSC is 720×480 with widescreen pixel aspect ratio, 29.97fps, 48,000Khz stereo audio. Render QT uncompressed (animation or PNG codec) or uncompressed avi from AE.
I’m not sure about Premiere Elements since I never used it.
I would normally use Encore or even iDVD on a mac. Bring in all assests for my project and burn the DVD image (or export the final DVD files if you will) and the program will take care of the compression to mpeg2.
