Try working at 16 or 32 bit color space.

From the specs on your projector it seems that the most it can do is 1600×1200- and that probably through the computer input. So playing from a laptop would give you the best option. Also there’s no need to work at 1080. If you can, do a few simple tests- use text with no blur on it, text with a Fast Blur of .3 and .7 and see what that looks like.

One thing you need to know that will most likely point you and us in the right direction: what will you use as your player? A plain DVD player (SD), a Blue Ray player, a computer/hard disk player…

If it’s SD 16:9 Michael’s suggestion is good, but you also have to check that your footage is interpreted correctly (right click on it in the project window) and that your comp is widescreen par.
If your referring to other kind of footage – 720p or i or 1080p or i, then post more details about your project.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

April 25, 2011 at 5:30 pm in reply to: Composition Size relative to footage/elements size@ Steven West – if you have an issue start a new thread- I just happened to stumble upon this. Are you saying the script did not work, that some elements are not working, be more specific in your problem… and start a new thread.

Right above the “Motion Blur” controls you should have “Visibility”. There you can determine the range in which your particles are visible.

It would be easier if you would be more specific- give timecodes or explain the effects one should look for.
I presume you are wondering about the scratches, cuts, stitches and bruises that appear and disappear on the singer as the shot goes on for the whole length of the song.
There’s a lot of planning involved. The points in the song where the effects should come in are carefully planned and the singer is careful to reveal that part of his face to the camera and to “wipe away” with his hand the effect that will be applied later. Then, using the same light and camera, makeup is applied and the look of the scratches, cuts, stitches and bruises is created and shot in similar head positions. Tracking comes into play. Patches are created from the images with the cuts… and then animated and applied to the singer with tracking data applied. I am sure that there may be a few other tricks involved but that’s the big picture.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

The only thing that comes to mind is that you should check the visibility range.
