  • CS5.5 takes advantage of the CUDA technology in both Premiere and AE, so a Quadro will help, as will more RAM.
Don’t forget also that lower resolution previews will increase the productivity as well.

  • One way to do it is to use the Mesh Warp under Distort. You can animate only the top points of the mesh to create the wavy look you’re after.

What you see in this video are some good ole’ “Video Toaster” age effects done by pure electronic manipulation. I’m afraid there’s no plugin that can easily replicate that. You already mentioned some of the plugins that can be used for feedback, but the smooth color flares – maybe roto out the color areas, boost the saturation and apply trapcode Shine…

It may be a directional hard edge wipe, between two layers with the same footage, where one layer is offset a few pixels and has motion tile applied to it.

It works for one, but I would choose more contrast and color since you loose some of that in 3d (anaglyph or other).

  • I’ve noticed that as well- it takes some time on my machine but they shut down after 1 min or so.

I would create a simulation of the space behind the windows in 3d- just ceiling (you will see the neon squares as the brightest thing behind the window), left wall and back wall- and then cut out the windows, comp them on top with the 3d set behind, then play with transfer modes (Screen, Overlay…).

  • Or I may be wrong- Walter I think you read it well, the shutter speed is 500. In any case, Time Warp or Time Remapping will do the trick.

  • Since you have the footage at 500fps, you have slow motion already. If you import the footage in AE at 29.97 or 25 or whatever fps you are working at, you will have instant slow motion. You are probably asking how can you have speed changes in the shot. Time Remapping is one way to do it:

Why are you trying to add light- are there following shots you are trying to match to- room interiors where you have a certain kind of light? If that’s the case I would start there- it would be good to have a still posted for more feedback.
It all depends on what you are trying to achieve- what you mentioned is a good way to go about it and without more info I can’t be specific.
