” the adjustment layer appears to be spilling over into the glow effect”
It’s not really clear what you mean by that. Post a full resolution still and point out the issue. Technically and adjustment layer can’t spill over into an effect…

It’s a tricky thing- if you render the hair with alpha, you get all the hair, the part that is behind the head as well, so comping that over the hairless character will not work. Instead of the black body/head, use a chroma green or blue shader with not reflection or shadows on (flat) – this way you can render that with the hair and alpha and then key out the color in AE to get only the hair that is visible on top of the head.

July 21, 2011 at 6:54 am in reply to: Generating an artificial key-light shadow in AE?Why do it in post when it would be so easy to bring in additional lights in the studio? No filter can simulate what a real light does.

For simple objects, text and even complex objects (without the modeling part) my option is Zaxwerks Invigorator Pro. It’s fast, you can make use of OpenGL and you can link an object to a 3D layer in AE = you animate using AE controls.
Here’s an example of what this combination can do:

AE is not an editing app. You will get limited previews, depending on the size of your footage and the size and quality of your preview. Edit in Premiere Pro and do your fx/compositing/graphics in AE.

I think 3D Reflector from Zaxwerks may be able to help on this matter.

Why not use the entire piece of paper and distort it using Free Form. No slices needed and no camera issues…
However that is strange- I have used FreeForm displaced layers with 3d layers in AE and had no issues. Maybe Chris Bobotis can give us a clue.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

Scripts may be of more use to you in the types of projects you mentioned.
Here’s a good resource:

One way of achieving this is to create an animation of white circles growing from the center and disappearing once they reach the edge of the frame. Set that in 3d space to match the perspective of your character and apply Trapcode Shine setting the light source low (outside the frame). You can then animate the shimmer, ray length and intensity.

Not unless it is not setup as the bottom layer under all 3d layers.
If you have no adjustment layer in between the 3d layers of the green screen and they are all at different points in z space you should be ok.
One more thing- if you have OpenGL on turn it off.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu
