You do not need large size image to trace in AI. Also no need to cut them in PSD. You can trace the image and then delete the unwanted vector shapes. If you get white pixels around the object, you can use select same fill to select all of them and then delete. It may take a bit of work but there’s no way around it. One other thing you can try without trying to delete the white pixels around the objects is to apply a Matte Choker in AE and see if that gets rid of them without messing your edges.

It can be done in After Effects (except modeling the 3d model of the chromebook).
Most usual workflow is to design in a package like AI and then animate in AE, but it could be done entirely in AE.
Second set
1- you can animate the shapes in a Shape Layer to create that kind of morphing.
2- there are plugins that ca help you do that – a particle system with a custom particle and a animated displacement map could help, transitions or even the CC Kaleidoscope plugin.
3- Lots of time and patience mixed with camera moves and some of the plugins above.
My main point I guess is that in AE things can be done in a variety of ways. Take time to learn them – one question at a time on a specific issue is better than many questions on various subjects all at once. Unfortunately there are no one click plugins that can do everything.

Unless you do a lot of 3d work in CS6 you should not worry that much about the video card (GPU). RAM and faster CPU’s is what helps AE.

It may have to do with the codecs installed on your machine. There are many MPEG flavors and you may need to install a more extensive codec pack on your newer machine.

If you are projecting this in a movie theater, you may want to talk to the folks that run the projection system and ask them what kind of files they use. JPEG2000 could be one, although there are quite a few others used.
As far as why AE tells you that trillions excedes the current color space, that is most likely because you are working in a 8bit project. Switch to 16 or 32 bit to take advantage of all color info in your files.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

No plugin/effect needed. All you need to do is to duplicate the text layer several times, re-size at various larger dimensions and position at different locations in the frame. Then you can animate the opacity to create a flashing sequence- from zero to 50%, to 100% and zero again- at 1 or 2 frame intervals, offsetting for each channel so that they will come up and disappear one after the other. The main text can stay on the whole time or disappear at the begging of the flashing sequence and appear at the end of it.

To answer your question, the black lines can be created with masks or shape layers. Most likely the video “rectangles” that animate in the frame to create the composite image have a black border.
If you want the black border around the outside: precomp the image on a black solid, mask the image then copy the mask to the solid. Then use the Mask Expansion in the black solid to give you a black border.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

Although there are techniques of making a 2d plugin look like it’s 3d (the previous answer points out a tutorial), for your project I suggest you need a true 3d model. There may be several ways to go. ShapeShifter AE from Mettle can help – it uses displacement maps to extrude any kind of shapes and it has generator- pretty handy for mulriple instances of the same object that can be randomized in scale. position and rotation. Also, Plexus can be used to create 3d structures.

Also, Zaxwerks Invigorator Pro allows you to import a true 3d model in AE (you can find probably lots for free) and Element 3d can be used as well (works best with the models from Videocopilot libraries).
