THen that is a camera problem. maybe a lens issue? Are you looking for a fix to the situation? Desaturate the Blue and Green channels. Can we see a frame of what you are talking about?

Is ot on the tape independent of the Digitized footage?

  • Animation is an 8 bit per channel codec for a 32 bit image. R,G,B,A . BMD is a YUV format meing luminece (B/W) and two Chromanice chanels. The 10 bit codec handles gradients better than the 8 bit Animation codec but the are as said above different color spaces. I suggest that the anmition house deliver in the 10 bit codec strait from their set up. THe BMD codec is free and works with any QT base system.

No conversion necessary unless they are .dv files, then maybe the file extention may need to be renamed .mov

How did you change the allocation? I haven’t had to do that since OS 9.

  • Hello sir,
I suggest downloading the BMD codec from Blackmagic Design It is cross platform for XP and Mas OS X. Looks awesome and works with any QT based application with or without their hardware. The only but is that your drives should be fast enough to play the footage. Remmeber to intall on both machines.

    Email direct with any questions.

Check your harddrives if you have your render folder set to a harddrive that is full that will cause an out of memory error. In general if your system harddrive if full that will cause general memory errors and performace problems.

I hope this is helpfull, With anything if your drive is at 90% full performace will suffer. Also if you are working from a sequence timeline of 90 minutes kulled from 40 hours worth all still available on the drive spells seektime trouble. I would separate the wheat from the chaff to reduce seeking. Its not and FCP thing as much a OS, IO, filesystem, drive speed issue. If you can, I would buy a new FW drive and tranfer onto it only the stuff you know you want to continue working with, say 20 of best hours of footage 🙂 and leave the remaineder on the original drive for quick access in case inspiration hits and the footage wasn’t transfered over. That way you have reduced load on the system and added a back up of the project footage.
