I’ll second that. Those of us “old school” editors that flew ADO, DME, K-Scopes, Quantel and the like loved and miss that kind of control. Actually, most of our “wants” were met with the advent of
NLE’s, but NO ONE ever truly created an “ON LINE” type editor interface. I belive at one point, Panasonic Post Box, Stratasphere and perhaps Sony Xpri have (had) something similar, but not sure.

Don’t know of any 3rd party that would work. How about an old Atari joystick just for fun. We could at least play pong. But seriously, perhaps a Flight simulator type joystick could have buttons mapped?????

    OT:

Hi Todd, Just read your post and see you are at Vazda. Tell Randy M. I said hello.
I used to work with him in Miami at BVI. Is he still a slave driver? ( Just kidding )

On the subject of 3rd Party DVE. For about the same money, which do
you all suggest, the CGM as mentioned above, or Boris FX?

    Thanks….

I agree with Oliver. As a seasoned AVID | DS and Composer editor, A-S slows me way down. Clip collisions drive me crazy.

    Now for my wish list:

    1. Copy Paste Key Frames for Motion DVE
    2. Ability to bump numbers up or down in value registers as opposed to having to enter exact value.
Would love to use the scroll wheel, or bump + / – buttons or arrows for 1 or 10 digit bumps.
    3. Lasso and slide multiple key frames for audio and DVE. This MUST be addressed.
    4. Label the X Y paramaters better in Motion DVE. Improve the DVE in general.
    4. A static 2 or 4 screen box display during slip and slide. I hate having to hold mouse and slide.
    5. Ability to color code Bins. All those grey boxes drive me bonkers.
    6. Resolve issues with nested sequences. FCP does a lousy job finding clips and graphics inside nested
sequences when going from Off Line Low Rez to Hi Rez.
    7. Imporove nested functionability overall to be more like AVID|DS where ALL complicated effects
compositing are done inside a nest as opposed to stacking up numerous video tracks for FEAR of nests.
    8. Better Print to Video functionality.
    9. Ability to SET IN SET OUT by numeric entry as opposed to MARK IN MARK OUT.

That would be off to a good start for me.

  • I had a similar issue yesterday and posted it. I master exclusively on DigiBeta A500 and often need to punch in and out of
existing master. This seems like editing 101 especially with 422 control which is more accurate than 232.

Any other adice on this would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Thanks…

C’mon Walter, can’t ya just tell me 1 or 2.

I really do need to get a better book than the manuals. But I don’t think they are all addressed. Certainly not trimming multiple keyframes or incrmenting x, y, values in precise increments.

    Thanks
    Rick
