You are switching cameras (no edits added) when you want to be cutting them.

On numpad you are using 1 / 2 when you need to use control (command on mac) + 1 /2

Ordinarily one would uncheck ‘preserve source directory’ when using MXF Op-atom with Avid.

If the files are in the MXF/1/ folder (or any numbered folder) then Avid will build the necessary database files to work with those clips and not need to link to them. It does not drill down into subfolders.

Not sure if this is the reason for the TC discrepancy

  • So much metadata, apart from the info you really want

    I use media info – https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

adobe.com/go/wish to add a feature request

I tried it on a very simple sequence – in Avid I made sure that the AAF was set to Consolidate video and audio, to a separate folder.

    Came into Resolve 14b OK.

PP 2017.1 reported a ‘serious error’ and quit.

PP 2017.0.2 imported OK – it seems to create nested sequences to marry up OP-Atom (i.e. seperate) Video and Audio – I can see how that might cause problems if the audio has L or J cuts or is non-synchronous.

I’m pretty sure that PP and Resolve don’t handle embedded media.

No time for further investigation at the moment but will try and look into it a bit further if I get the chance.

  • I’ve seen it – and I’ve seen it reported elsewhere. For me it is when I have a 2nd monitor attached to iMac 5K and am trying to access areas near menu bar. Move the bin down a bit and all is OK

    I don’t think there’s any 4.3 transmission in U.K. – they’ll almost certainly want 16.9 Full Height Anamorphic

  • Downside, in Premiere, is that you need the timeline to be active to zoom in the timeline.

    adobe.com/go/wish for all feature requests.

This one is ‘shortcut to zoom around play head on timeline, regardless of current window selected – like Avid & FCP7’

Feel free to add ‘add dissolve dialogue (including centre dissolves to filler and apply transition in to out, with option to skip existing) – like Avid’ and ‘head/tail fades – like Avid’

You’ll find others, plus plenty to go back the other way. NLE competition is a good thing.

  • I see this regularly – stereo clips in mono tracks in a stereo sequence. Speaker icon on track is the sign.

That’s a great recipe for dual mono.

Add 2 new ‘standard’ tracks, select all clips on A1&A2 and alt& down arrow to move them down into the new tracks. Delete the empty audio tracks.

You’ll probably also want to bring up gain on the, hopefully now stereo, clips by 3dB or more

Easiest way of ensuring stereo (other than ears) is PPMulator plug-in, or similar, on master bus, set to phase or M/S display. https://products.zplane.de/ppmulator

  • Sadly you will have to use a macro programme to achieve this. I use Keyboard Marstro on OSX, AHK on windows.

Add your voice to the feature request at adobe.com/go/wish – ask for head & tail fades, like avid, whilst you are there (even if you don’t know what they do, you’ll love them when you see them)

If you can get hold of (Shazam) the clean music and sync it with the mix, you may be able to phase invert that and thus remove it. You’d have to match the music level in the mix.

Likelihood is it won’t work though…
