I’m sure there is a way to install just the music from STP. I would google it and you’ll see lots of options.

Personally, I would just install STP and be done with it.

Ricardo – there are a number of more techniques in this tutorial:

  • Helge,

Don’t know if this would help, but we are using an app called “FolderWatch” to sync templates between our edit machines and our file server. It takes a moment to setup for each user but works very well and is just $10:

It looks like the $99 is a release special:

I believe it is about double that normally, but I could be wrong.

Glad it is close to what you need. Let me try to mess with it today and see what I can figure out for controlling which word is highlighted.

You’re idea would work just fine, but there is a much better way in FCP X. You could build a Title generator that could allow you to keyframe the highlighting of individual words.

I’m not a Motion guru (there are many here) but I took 5 minutes and created a simple yellow highlighter that highlights one word at a time automatically during the duration of the title.

    4536_yellowhighlight.zip

Pop this is in ~Movies/Motion Templates/Titles and then you’ll find it in your Title browser. Then you can play around with it and see how it works. To apply it to text that was already made, just drag and release over an existing text object and choose “replace from start”.

Of course this won’t work perfectly for your need, but I’ll bet someone else on the board can help.

Yes that is the rub with FCP X, it doesn’t actually let you play back video. Perhaps that is why there is so much FUD about it. Sorry I couldn’t resist. 😉

Seriously, start with some basic troubleshooting, and yes, try running with just 1 monitor and see if perhaps the graphics card is a problem. Here are some troubleshooting basics:

If you are still having trouble give Apple care a call.

August 13, 2012 at 7:01 pm in reply to: Playback not smooth

    Gerry,

Is playback without the Kona working well? I’m thinking there is something up with the Kona if everything else is working fine. I would contact AJA.

BTW. With your setup everything should be running very smoothly, especially just playback without any extensive compositing. On my system I have Canon 7D h264 footage (not optimized) playing back a high quality with my mx02 on, and waveform, and I am able to stack several color corrections on that footage and still not have any dropped frames (and I have a 2006 MacPro). Of course FCP X will start dropping frames as any app would once you max it out on compositing, but it should handle all the basics without any problem.

If you really need some help I’ll be happy to screen share with you. Email me at my creative cow username without the period at me.com

Playback should be smooth with that config. One thing to check is the frame rate and size of the video out matches your timeline. On my Matrox mx02 there is a specific setting both in system prefs and prefs for FCP. I would double check that, then if you still have trouble i would give AJA a shout.
