  • Jason, smart collections will work, but that is a fantastic feature request that seems very needed. Be sure to get it in here:

What is the codec, frame rate, etc. I assume you have the latest drivers from AJA?

Indeed that is a redraw error. Zoom in and out on the timeline and it should clear up.

Oh I missed that one on the new announced features! I frankly never even knew what MXF was and dismissed it. Thanks for the education. 😉

    Jeremy,

Thanks for the information, that is great to know. So have you posted some feedback to Apple about this workflow? I just sent them a note about the IMX export options being very difficult to discover, so the more information they have the better.

    [Jeremy Garchow] “FCP Legend”

    😉

[Jeremy Garchow] “It’s an IMX.mov, but an IMX.MXF would be great “

So what is the difference between the .mov and the .mxf (besides of course the extension)?

At the moment that generators can’t contain audio. ;(

What I have done is create an event with some standard items I always use, and then I just keep that event always visible.

Looks like not all of the proxy files were created. Just select all your footage and choose File > Transcode Media or right click and choose Transcode Media:

As far as the AVCHD footage, it is h264 and therefore FCP X SHOULD create optimized media (ie. ProRes) for it. Double check that you can create optimized media. Also here is some more info about it:

Also, have you watched any training? I would highly recommend you watch some (Ripple Training, or Larry Jordan, etc.) since you are coming from older versions of FCP.

Humm. I”ve not seeing those issues. But I’m in the habit of create a camera archive from HDV and MiniDV. Have you tried that, perhaps it is some issue with capturing direct.

I’m sure you already have, but make sure you report it to Apple.

[Jeremy Garchow] “Now if we could can get this in MXF direct from the timeline! ;)”

Correct me if I am wrong, but is that what I showed?

(Sorry to be redundant, I just want to be clear) Here is my timeline with roles:

    The export settings:

    And the results:
