I just buy a ATA or SATA drive for each client, or each project, and then add new ones as needed for backup from my RAID’s. I like to buy bare drives and connect them using Wiebetech’s cool DriveDocks: https://www.wiebetech.com/home.php

Ditto, no problems with 10.4.7, but its unlikely that upgrading will instantly fix your network problems. Although, we don’t anything about your computers or how you are connecting them, it is possible if you upgraded them all to 10.4.7 it might be easier to setup your network with some of the built-in network troubleshooting tools. But without complete details there are way too many variables to even guess at what would help you.

A plugin is probably going to be the best/easiest way to achieve for the effect you want. A shatter plugin would do it. You can look at Boris Continuum’s Shatter effect as possibility: https://www.borisfx.com/products/CONTINUUM_COMPLETE/

4GB is enough for most situations/users. However, Photoshop alone can use up to 3gb and app’s like Motion & AfterEffects are also memory gobblers, so I if you think you’ll be running multiple app’s of that nature regularly, 8gb of RAM or more might be useful for you.

I’ve had this happen a few times recently. Unplug your Mac and leave it unplugged for a couple minutes. Then plug it back in and reboot.
