  • Just saw an upgrade for $330 on eBay, with 1day left on the bidding. I picked up a factory sealed Academic version for $350 a couple weeks ago, just to have for one of my machines that still has FCP 6 on it that I wanna update soon. Only difference w/ Academic is that you can’t upgrade it, but since there are no more upgrades to FCP 7, I guess that’s not an issue is it? Well, you’re not supposed to use Academic for paid work but they aren’t giving you much choice now, are they?

  • Many Thanks!!! I’m editing (on FCP 7) right now so when I’m done for the day, I’ll check em out. Y’all are awesome. Thanks Simon!

  • Sweet! Yea, the Vets, and the folks who’ve picked up the baton and are running with it w/ X are to thanked and respected. Thanks for all you do to make it easier to get to where we need to be with FCP X. Think a Flash Frame transition is possible?

  • Oh, I know! These guys have been amazing!!! I definitely appreciate what they’ve been doing…especially since most of the stuff SHOULD have been in FCP X at release. Much gratitude to these folks here. Flash Frame and Wind Blur transitions a la TMTS plugs would be awesome.

Thing is…Apple TV was great! Talking about the original. I use one for client previews and expos and it is perfect. The public wasn’t ready…Apple was ahead of it’s time. MobileMe…again, GREAT. I use it every day. I’m PO’d about the EOL of that. My clients download finished projects from my iDisk and even upload material to me when I need it using my public fielder and a login. I even deliver for broadcast using iDisk! My website is hosted through MobileMe using iWeb. Yea, it doesn’t suck.

    My 2 cents.

  • You need to convert all of your Canon footage to Prores (MPEG Streamclip is free and does an awesome job of batch convert) and your jpg’s should be converted to .png with a dpi of 72 and frame size under 2k. Do that and all will be good. FCP 7 (and under) hates the stuff you’re throwing at it!!!

eBay! You can even buy an academic version since the only difference is that you can’t upgrade it. Since there are no more “upgrades”, who cares!

That’s pretty cool. What app do you use to turn the iPad into a second monitor and is it easy to move your browser over there?
