I believe your talking about Rotoscoping wich requires a frame by frame removal/masking of the item you want to remove. FCP is not any good for this at all. I’ve done it by exporting all frames in a shot as a png sequence and editing each one (remember 24-30 per second!) using photoshop and vowed never to do that again. After Effects CS 5.5 dies thus with ease. I’ve never tried it using Motion. I would try a search for video tutorials on rotoscoping.

Open the clips in MPEG Streamclip (you can do one by one, or in batches) and save as a QuickTime movie and change the codec settings to Prores or Prores LT (LT is smaller file sizes and adequate for many edits….don’t use Prores HQ as its overkill and has its own set of issues) and export. Take those files into FCP and you should be golden. Not sure about your playback issues in QuickTime but this will help immensely!
If you’re it familiar with MPEG Streamclip, google it for workflow info.

Theres an app called FilmicPro that allows you to lock all of those settings…and MANY more. I’ve played with it many times now. Sometimes things just happen when the only camera you have with you is the iPhone…it’s no replacement for real gear but it comes in handy. Also, it can be used for cool “effects” to simulate a handheld camera or to give you the look of someone filming on the street. You know what I mean.

That app is actually called Photo Transfer App. It does both vid and pic though. Once you have em on your Mac, use MPEG Streamclip

There’s an app in the app store that’s called “transfer app”. It’s $2.99 I think. It allows your to transfer over wifi from the phone to the computer usung the app on the phone and your Internet browser on your computer.
It’ll also let you transfer to other iPhones and iPads that also have the app. Pics and vids. I shot my brother in laws wedding while on vacation in CO on my iPhone, transferred clips to iPad, and edited it using 3 different apps (plus a couple that do effects…including be from Red Giant!) and delivered it before I left for home.
Of course it wasn’t as awesome as my pro work but I didn’t want to take all my pro equipment…and besides I was on vacation! 🙂 Anyways, he loved it. I used iMovie, ReelDirector, and Splice as editors. It was a good test anyway.

Or using something like mp4/h.264 in your timeline. But I’ve seen OP here quite a bit so I’m thinking he probably already knows that. If not, transcode our footage to Prores via compressor or MPEG Streamclip an re-edit. If your images (stills) are the problem, you want them at 72dpi and no larger tha 2000×2000 in .png format and they should be fine.

Just a thought….if you have all of your media on an external, like a GRAID (preferably via eSATA), and put a copy of the original project file on a USB drive so you could overt around to the other stations as well, couldn’t you just cut it once on your main suite and them move the drive and project to the other suite when you need to?

Another thing you can do if you can’t get your speed up enough (sometimes even a faster system can choke on them based on the footage and effects you may have under the text) is get your subtitles in place and lock that track. Then cntrl-click on the text and select deactivate clip. Once everything is done, turn em back on and render.
Just a thought as I had to do that on an older machine/job.

That’s what I’ve heard. I’ve been using AppCleaner for some time and it’s the same as far as showing you where everything lives and giving you a choice before deleting them.
I quite like it! And I recently noticed that when I toss an app into the trash, it automatically knows to go find those other elements and asks you if you want to “clean it up”. Pretty cool!
