  • Cursor stopped “snapping” into place on the timeline… wahhh

Ok, so usually when I go to drop a clip into my timeline or use the razor blade function, when I get very close to the playhead, my cursor will be automatically drawn to the line and snap into place. This is really convenient… and saves me a lot of time positioning my cursor.

I must have accidentally hit some type of keyboard shortcut that turns this off because it has now stopped doing it. I have now done this on two separate computers, and I would really like to switch it back. If anyone has any idea how to change this, or what shortcut I hit, I would be sooooooo thankful.

I appreciate all of your time. Thanks for everything!

Try hitting the N key on your keyboard, or clicking the little snapping button in the upper right corner of the timeline.

No problem. You use that to toggle snapping on and off sometimes you just don’t want to use snapping…like when you need precision placement. Do a google search for a PDF of FCP keyboard shortcuts and print it out. It’ll be very helpful!
