Creating Apple pro rez proxies
I am cutting 6, 30 min episodes shot on the 5D and 7D which both unwrap at Apple pro rez. Also, the final QT to be sent out needs to be pro rez. I Have the space to store the episodes, but I need to be able to cut on 4 station at the same time, so I am wanting to edit with Apple pro rez proxies on the individual bays (No $ for server).
Question is, what is the easiest way to create the proxies with the exact same name as the full rez version so that it’s easy to go back online later? Should I use compressor or is there another “cheap” program that will do a faster & better job?

FCP. Use the MEDIA MANAGER and the RECOMPRESS option.

Just a thought….if you have all of your media on an external, like a GRAID (preferably via eSATA), and put a copy of the original project file on a USB drive so you could overt around to the other stations as well, couldn’t you just cut it once on your main suite and them move the drive and project to the other suite when you need to?
Just thinking out loud.
