Everyone here is steering you the right direction. My question is, why not use compressor, use one of the presets for YouTube, and if its not exactly how you want it, tweak it from there? I do suggest you turn frame controls on and make tell it you want it to be progressive. And keep it to 720p for output as 1080p, no matter what people tell you, is plenty for online streaming. In fact, TV uses 720p for he majority of programming when it comes to sports.

Make the text clip a secondary storyline and your problem should be gone

I tried it with a short video in regular Prores 422 and it actually uploaded no problem. It took longer to “prepare” (encode) on thier end. And it didn’t look as goods my custom Compressr setting I use before I upload. FWIW

Sorry…if you did install a legally licensed version of it and the update didn’t work, you might try to run them again. If all else fails, wipe the drive and start from scratch.

Well, AFIK, you can’t “download” Final Cut Studio 3. You have to buy the discs…and if Apple has ended its special deal where you can buy it directly from calling them…you pretty much have to buy it on eBay or something like that.
If it was downloaded from a torrent site or something that was “less than legal”, that might explain why it’s not working as expected.
Just a thought.

Glad you’re taking a closer look. You might want to go ahead and grab the free trial of X and actually use it for something small that includes some of your regular workflow in order t really get an idea of how it would work for you. The instore demo is just playing with something they’ve done. And you’re standing there…in a store…with distractions and a unreal sense of what you’re doing.
I’ve been using to more and more and starting to like it! All while learning Avid and PP CS6.

Can’t remember what he said exactly and don’t have time to read it all again, but while he said “double down on secrecy”, he also said they’d be more open about thier roadmap on certain things. And they way they’ve been more open with FCP X roadmap, that might be kinda true

Not for nothin…and I’m still on Legacy whie I learn Avid, Adobe, and X…but FCP X works GREAT for that type of project. I’ve used it for a couple like that (“for fun” side projects) and it just plays so nicely with all of that.

Yea, I feel ya on the export thing but ya know…I always exported a Prores 422 master from earlier versions of FCP and used that to make all of the other versions I wanted to do using Compressor anyway. So…the different export features, while I was aghast when I saw them missing, really didn’t come into play.
And I’ll tell ya what…the share for Vimeo and YouTube are actually very good quality! If you don’t have compressor on the machine…or Adobe Media Encoder (which screams on my MBP…not sure how it works on my Mac Pro because I don’t have it installed on my main edit machine)…you’ll be limited in your transcoding availability. But hey…for another $50 you can get Compressor and do anything you need to!
But for what they’re doing, they’ll be fine with what comes with it. FWIW, when you do a share -> export media, you can do a little selecting of different methods. Just like exporting in legacy FCP to a degree.
