all ProsRes 422 or mixed ProRes & ProRes LT for Canon 60D & iPhone project?
My project is mostly shot on a Canon 60D, but also has a lot of other footage (iPhone 4, Kodak PlaySport, and Panasonic DVX100). I know the general rule is DSLR to ProRes 422 and things like iPhones to ProRes LT. But, have also read it’s important to have a uniform codec, frame rate, etc on the timeline. Just read Walter Biscardi’s article on mixed media and DaVinci Resolve (which is a possibility for this project), so wanted to get this right from the start.
So, what the right way to do this? Thanks for any help!

Go full on ProRes 422…keep it all uniform. I don’t think there’s an issue with mixing LT and 422…but play it safe.
and Walter’s issue was with Avid and mixing frame rates and codecs. He said everything from FCP with the uniform codecs worked great. If he kept things uniform in Avid too…and used Avid media and less AMA native files…things might have gone better.

Not for nothin…and I’m still on Legacy whie I learn Avid, Adobe, and X…but FCP X works GREAT for that type of project. I’ve used it for a couple like that (“for fun” side projects) and it just plays so nicely with all of that.
