Christmas tree light are below 3200K which is the reason why you are getting the low color temp warning.

Don’t use the preset white balance instead do an auto white balance off a white card or chip chart which is illuminate by many christmas tree lights to allow a sufficient exposure for the white card or chip chart.

You will most likely get under somewhere between 2.2 to 2800K.

3200K Preset will result in the image being much warmer.

The FCP FRC plugin will indeed work with ramped footage created with Clarity.

Bill Hogan who is the engineer who developed Clarity allowed me to use his Clarity Box and my test shots worked fine using the FCP FRC plugin. You just need to understand how the presets work and allow you to build different ramps with a start and ending duration as well as specific frame rates to start and end on. I successfully did ramps back and forth from 4 fps to 60 fps and in reverse within the same take. The FRC plugin had no problem dealing with such radical frame ramping.

There are some issues regarding black flash frames at the end of recording which appears to be an issue with the Varicam and ramped shots. The only solution is to always allow more post roll after each ramped shot so any black flash frame occur well after the take.

FYI The black flash frames are random.

Check your FCP installation disk and look in one of the folders where all the extra stuff that is not normally loaded is.

Somewhere in one of those folders is the item you will need to deal with the two frame offset issue.

You are going to set Bob off again on the merits of using a black burst generator in your suite.

Spare yourself the pain and find the money to set your suite up right with a BB generator.

The cost of a used BB generator compared to all your other gear is a drop in the bucket.

I think we need to be very specific when referring to the HD frame rates instead of rounding.

For example

24P can actually refer to 23.98 or 24.00
30P can actually refer to 29.97 or 30.00
60P can actually refer to 59.94 or 60.00

I have found that most of the confusion involved in 24P is caused by using the frames rates generically and not being specific on the exact hz rate.

In the field it is absolutely essential that the camera crew and sound crew are aware of the specific frame rate chosen at the camera because the implications of a mismatch creates problems later in post ie- camera at 23.98 sound at 30.00 instead of camera at 23.98 sound at 29.97 which is the proper correlation.

The frame rates without zeros are the rates to use when dealing with a NTSC editing workflow.

Such a hassle to go thru for a simple solution.

Why not consider renting a low cost RTS wired intercom system.

A three camera system will require three headsets and beltpaks for the camera operator and a fourth for the director.

Beltpaks and headsets will cost you 15-20 apiece
Power supply and splitter will cost you another $20

Grand total 80-100 rate card minus the discount from the rental house.

It is so cheap to rent and only requires running the xlr cables to each camera.

Depending on what camera you where using (IT chip versus FIT) you may have not had the range of shutter rates to deal with the DLP refresh rate.
The frame rate your camera was set to also affects the shutter range.

FYI- IT CCD’s shutter rates can go lower than FIT CCD’s.

However there are some refresh rates that are in between the camera shutter rates which make it impossible to completely dial out any flicker.

What shutter rate did you find came close to dealing with the flicker?

What frame rate where you shooting at?

Another solution is to have the video projectionist change the refresh rate to you 60HZ if you are shooting 60i.

I tried that along time along when I first used the Sheer codec.

I doubt Apple will ever do anything considering they have their own uncompressed 8 and 10 bit codecs that they would rather push.
