I currently have a project that is focused on Holiday Lighting and Holiday Lighting displays. I have recently started encountering some problems, that I could use some helpful hints on. I am shooting on Beta SP format and whenever outside video taping I am always getting a LOW COLOR TEMP. reading. Does anyone have any hints or ideas that would help me yield a better image?

    Thanks, every hint counts.

Try setting your filter wheel to 3200K and the white balance switch to preset.

Those are the settings that I am surrently taping at and it is still giving me the LOW COLOR TEMP. warning. That was the first thought that came to mind as well was to set it to 3200K and use preset.

Christmas tree light are below 3200K which is the reason why you are getting the low color temp warning.

Don’t use the preset white balance instead do an auto white balance off a white card or chip chart which is illuminate by many christmas tree lights to allow a sufficient exposure for the white card or chip chart.

You will most likely get under somewhere between 2.2 to 2800K.

3200K Preset will result in the image being much warmer.
