To simplify FCP works in and exports production aperture. It does not support clean aperture internally nor on export, nor has any previous version.

I believe it’s the QT X player. When viewed on a computer the image should display the full raster. There should be zero cutoff. Any masking should be done on a television display.

Black edging is common on digitized analog media. There is no black edging on normal DV media displayed in QT. I think your problem is with the QT X player.

The presentation formats make no difference to FCP, which always works with the encoded pixel aspect ratio, and adjusts for display within the application.

You are in a compound clip inside a project. Use the back button in the upper left to return to the project or go back to the project library Cmd-zero and reopen the project. Export the project not the compound clip. You should also update to the current version after you do that.

First, are you sure your camera shoots 60fps? Or does it shoot 59.94? It’s important you determine that. Second, FCP can edit either 59.94 or 60fps media. You create a project with the frame rate you want.

Select the clips in the browser. Go to the Info tab of the Inspector. Click the gear popup in the lower right and select Apply Custom Name.

I should note that reel information is available in FCP. It can be added and seen in the General display of the Info tab of the Inspector. It doesn’t display in the browser.

I think that’s a DVCPRO HD codec. That’s only available with pro apps like FCP.

When you rename a project you’re renaming a folder on the hard drive. If any function is occurring into that folder you cannot change the name. You cannot do it at the finder level; you can’t do within the app.
