    Trying to screen original FCPX footage using QT Player 7.7 and QTMPEG-2 Playback

    Hi,

    I don’t get picture, only audio, as I want my producer to screen original FCPX footage using QuickTime Player 7.7. I have purchased and downloaded the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component as well.

    My hard drive, with the all the footage (which has never been removed from the “original media” folder inside of the “Final Cut Events” folder) is hooked up to a non FCP X mac in her home.

    Mac Computer Model: 1 GHz PowetPC G4, 1 MB L3 cache, Memory: 1.5GB DDR SDRAM.

    All the file names all end with (id).mov (Example: 2011-10-29 10_22_13 (id).mov)

    What’s the problem? Why can I only get sound and no picture?

    By the way the installer tells me the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component is successfully installed but for the life of me I can’t find the application anywhere…..

    We need exact information on what the media is. Open it in the QT player and reportedly exactly what it says in the movie inspector. Most likely the codec is not available on her system. What version of the OS is being used?

    I think that’s a DVCPRO HD codec. That’s only available with pro apps like FCP.
