What format is your project and media? The mask tool won’t work in standard definition.

That’s correct. All our machines have both 7 and X. All the studio applications are in a folder called Final Cut Studio in the Applications folder. FCPX is at the top level of the Applications folder.

When you restart hold the Option key and you’ll get a window that allows you to select the boot drive. If you’re not going to run the applications simultaneously there is no need for separate partitions. You can simply close one application and open the other.

It doesn’t matter what drives the applications are on. You can only run one OS at a time. Both applications will not run in the same OS simultaneously.

Switch off Control-1 and -2 in system prefs.

Use a PDF of the manual. It’s a much quicker and better search feature.

“Now I’m trying to toggle between alternates with the audition window closed by selecting the clip in the timeline and using control right or left arrow. But instead Lion seems to be moving to a new desktop space? The widgets appear.”

You have to change this in System Prefs keyboard.

Cmd-tab works for me, except of course that the Help Viewer is a useless app.

Unfortunely this isn’t a published parameter. Don’t know why. You would need Motion to fix it.
