Hmm, from an article on fcp.co and a few hints from some other people, I heard that a thunderbolt 3 output direct from GPU could be fullscreen video out in Resolve 16.1.2??

From what I can gather, this means you get 4 additional T3 connectors from each MPX module, regardless of whether it is a 580x, Pro Vega II or Vega II Duo. You can connect each monitor to the GPU, and then they will be available as a full screen monitor out in FCPX and Resolve?

It’s definitely a 28 core and has 2 x dual GPUs but I’d highly doubt there is 1.5TB of ram in there.
I’ve costed a similar system and it’s around £19k ex vat. Ram can be bought way cheaper from OWC too.
If resolve isn’t utilising all GPUs, it’s maybe wise to go with 2 x single vega pro GPUs and upgrade later if needed.

8K 60P in a HDR workspace rendering to 4K Prores, brings roughly 3x speed increase over the top spec iMac Pro. This doesn’t include the most recent Metal/r3d speed bump, nor is the afterburner doing much to help. which can potentially happen in the future.

Redcode has always been a fantastic tool – its a very impressive codec that can be revisited a few years later with the new colour science and produce even better results than you previously expected.
I really, really hope that the new Mac Pro can provide some performance boosts when dealing with redcode footage.

Interesting.
I saw them working with TB3 accessories at IBC but the website blurb is vague at best when describing their ability to work with TB3. TB2 seems ok, but I have directly asked the question to Global Distribution in the UK who are the distributors for GTech and Corning and they have said that 40GB/s at 50m is guaranteed.

For most things the iMac Pro has been fine. This is an 8K stereoscopic 60p project with multiple nodes required in Resolve and a complex Resolve/FCPX/Logic/Compressor workflow.
If the project is in ProRes, the new version of FCPX and the MacBook Pro or iMac Pro are great.
