Simply highlight the sequence icons in the browser that are unrendered, do an Option R and it will render all of the selected sequences.

Well, if I can’t use this software for commercial use and it’s Friday afternoon then I guess there’s no reason to stay here. It’s Miller time!

Make sure that you have the same reference signal connected to the AJA board and the deck. You didn’t mention which board you have installed, but I believe all the AJA boards will take external reference signals.
Also check menu item 701 on your PVW-2800. This is the setting telling the deck which reference to lock the internal TBC to. I believe I remember that it could shift your video vertically depending on which reference it is set to. If your getting a vertical shift, try setting the deck to the other choice in this menu and see what happens. I run this setting on by system in “sync” and the video is centered perfectly. Also make sure that you are not feeding an “advanced sync” signal to the deck by mistake. It will cause a vertical shift as well.
The looping reference referred to a way to center the video signal when your incoming video and your reference are different. Usually if you don’t have a reference signal, you can simply loop your incoming video signal from the deck and into the reference input. This will cause the deck to reference lock to the incoming video and the TBC will center the video on the screen without any vertical shifting. You could try it and see what happens.
Again, make sure you also have a reference going to the AJA card and the deck and I’ll bet that all will be well.

Well, it’s kind of old school but…
If they are broadcast decks with RS-422 ports, you could synchronize them all easily using an “old fashioned” edit controller. Most of these could sync up multiple machines and play them back all at once. And, with time code, it would be repeatable. You could most likely pick up a used one for pennies on the dollar these days.

ALL Digibeta editing decks have the ability to simply insert new time code information using a simple insert edit. Just set your starting code, do an insert on the time code track only and you will be good to go. The only problem here is if your original tape does not have a continuous control track. Then you will have problems.
If you have another Digibeta deck available, the best solution is probably to simply “clone” your tape to another tape. This will be a digital transfer to another machine resulting in a continuous time code track and control track with no loss in quality. If you have just a tape or two, and don’t have two decks at your disposal, it might be a good idea to simply send these off to a dub house for the duping.
As for adding a little “heads” and “tails” to each shot in the field, while not strictly necessary for preroll purposes, it is just a good habit to get into. Tape is cheap. Production time isn’t. Which would you rather pay for?

Render the LiveType project first (Command-R) and the Export Movie option will then become active. Pick what format you’d like to export it at from the pull-down menu. Easy!

If you can still find them somewhere, Eureka had a free one called “Vapor Across” that would probably do what you want. In addition to the flash of white, it will also progressively blow the video out as well on each side of the transition.
Possible Google Eureka and Vapor Across and see if it is still available somewhere.

Even Easier…Select the clip.
Option & Shift the clip and then just drag it down to your track while holding the two keys down. It will stay in sync with the clip above it.
Really fast and easy.

Don’t use a USB drive for your media. Get yourself a Firewire drive instead. USB drives, not even USB 2, will not work at all well for media storage.
