Thanks John. Even given the limitations, its so darn cool to be able to work with 3D models in AE in real time without have to resort to the import-export shuffle with C4D or Blender.

Gary, I always run Premiere Pro and After Effects simultaneously. And my AJA Kona 3 is simultaneously sending out a signal to my engineering monitor. None of those factors should be a problem. Of course this is dependent on the resources of the computer you are using (CPU speed / amount of ram/ etc.)

It might be a good idea to clean out the cache in PrP and AE

Im the USA (AKA outspoken) 😀

I like the products and support of AJA.

I do not like BMD based on my experiences with them. Cheap products with less durability then AJA. And tech support left a lot to be desired. Reports are they are still having problems getting good CS 6.03 drivers for their external monitoring hardware. AJA has had that nailed for the last month.

Ahmed, the only reason I switched from Prores to DNxHD is I switched from the Mac platform to a PC where its not possible to export to export Prores, only read it. Otherwise I most likely would have stuck with Prores.

Sorry to hear about all the problems you folks are having.

This “Serious error…” thing must be Mac related.

I recently got so pissed at Apple I decided to get a HP Z820. I havent seen any issues like you are reporting.

In fact its been rock solid with Kona 3 external display.

Phil, I also switched from Avid DS and FCP 7 prior to Premiere and my experience with dynamic link and After Effects capabilities has far exceeded my expectations.

Did you work at KPBS many years ago? It seems when I was on the studio crew I heard folks mention you by name.

You should be able to copy the project, just not create trimmed clips.

Wosrt case scenario, just copy all the necessary files yourself to what ever storage device you choose.

Since you did not mention what the codec was, I was just presenting an example of a long GOP format that would be problematic.It sounds like that applys to MPEG2 since you keep getting the error message. I have worked with h.264 but not MPEG 2 as a media source.

I believe your only option at this point, with the completed project is to archive the whole thing. And depending on size that could require a single or double Blu ray disk. Or a hard drive. Or an LTO-5 tape system…
