Wow, after this conversation I think I’ll just upgrade my Avid DS to HD and not even consider what I thought was an alternative.

Yes, it a problem many have come across and Apple has documented. It seems to happen when you dupe a sequence…then at some time power down the computer. When you resume the rendered file are lost and cant be connected.

The clip was extended in Motion fron 3 to 4 sec, which then was confirmed in the FCP browser (and by checking its length on Trk2 of the timeline), so yes…I definately had enough tail. The diz I wanted was to START at the edit point,
(not in the middle or end at the edit point) which would work with clip 3 just fine…except it didnt.
Still a mystery , but now with a Walter Workaround.

Thanks Walter. Yes, the clips does show up as 4 sec. in the timeline. The second track solution is a good work around.
I guess 12 years on the DS helped me forget how I used to do
multipe track diz on the Composer when it first came out.
I do appreciate the insight!

I am waiting to see how the release of Leopard enhances ALL the functions of FCP. At this point, for me its much to big an investment with to little tangilbe returns (ie using the full power of the processors for more than just Compressor).
