Yes, I have a G5 with 2 gigs and it happened when I tried to load
a simple tutorial sequence from Diane Weynands book on FCP6. But it was just this ONE sequence, every other sequence on the books dvd loaded just fine…. -

Jerry, when I work on a commercial, I save it progressively over time (ie start at 9am -build a bunch of stuff…save at 9:30 as a new sequence….Build some more stuff…save at 10:30 as a new sequence, etc}. Are you suggesting that every time I save it should be as a new project?
Now other times…I will build a generic infomercial and save without titles….then the client
wants to add titles and preserve the genreic version as well. You suggest all the different
versions I buld of this infomercial be different projects instead of different sequences?
I guess its feasable but it seems very counter intuitive and a definite kluge fix. As a temp
work around it seems ok but I sure hope that it would get resolved in the coding. -
Hey…if nothing else, this extended dialog might draw Apples attention to the impact of these issues on their “clients” and also add some motivation for resolution (if they have time to breathe between, iphone, ipod and leopard.)

to share this with other editors that are enthusiatstic about FCP but find current issues
make its use problematic for the moment. -
Hey Oliver, thanks for posting that Knowledge Base info. It appears another user has a functioning work around (regarding the disappearing render files ) for the moment. Now if Apple could address the slow Motion 3 in FCP6 render issue, I could attempt to convince the powers that be to reopen the FCP2 suite for use with clients on a tentative basis

Both the issues I mentioned (slow rendering of embedded Motion 3 projects in FCP6 AND render file dissapperance) are well documented here on the COW. A search will reveal
others expereience and frustration. -
Unfortunately all the projects (commercials, informercials) I work on
need to be rendered at best quality. It is small consolation to know that renders are faster at an unacceptable, lower quality setting. -
