Just a long shot – do you have it in the same slot as the other computers? If so, maybe try another one.

Ron. make sure the Work Area Bar (right above the timeline) covers the clips you need rendering, then select Rend All Work Area. That should do it. If for some weird reason it doesn’t, this workaround will. Place the video effect “Fast Blur” set to 0 on your clip. It wont change a thing, but it will force a render. The first option should really work.

I have had nothing but hard crashes trying to use the newest Cineform codec when trying to encode using it with Mac CS5 (PrP / AA / AME). Developer had same experience when we worked over the phone on this issue.FYI.

Adobe CS5 on Mac will playback and encode Prores IF you have FCP/FCPX/ New Motion/New Compressor installed on your machine

Adobe CS5 on a PC can ONLY playback Prores IF you download the codecs from Apple and install them.

If he is savvy with Premiere Pro 5.5 he can select to export a Prores 422 file. This can be configured in the Media Encoder interface that pops up when Export is chosen in Premiere. You should be able to play that in FCP just fine. If he doesnt know how, some quick Google research will reveal the answer.

What a great idea Jeremy. I wasn’t aware software existed that could add time code to a Prores or DNxHD file where there is none. Its a good workaround, but I would hope the lack of time code output thru Kona 3 SDI will still be addressed by Adobe.

Final delivery is still ambiguous.

Many clients want the final master file in which case Prores or DNxHD is appropriate.

They also like a file they can playback for the intended viewers so h.264 could also be necessary.
