Bala, Todd confirms my choice in configuration…
1 – Media Drive – Media and Preview files (preferably a raid)
2 – System Drive – Operating system / software and media cache (PrP) and disk cache (AE)
3 – Final output drive – to export final movies.

I followed suit and change my Preview file to DNxHD which is my mastering codec of choice these days.
Same drill. Immediate identification on restart. Maybe its just AVC Intra. I know when I work with Photo-JPEG files I bump into a few anomalies.

Maybe I am not being clear. I have a folder for the Project Test that is located on my raid.
In the Test folder I have a folder for Media. I also have the Preview Folder that PrP generates here as well.That way they both are in a logical place for archiving and they both benefit from the speed of the array.Tom Daigon

My final test was probably the one I should have started with.
Test 3 – P2 – Applied glow effect to clip on timeline. Render.Save and close project. Opened project. PrP immediately recognized.
Preview (render) file folder in the same project folder as media folder.All on the raid array.

Jim, I am have have been very calm and collected in this dialog. You seem to be the one with some anger management problems. Enough so that others have commented as well. Learn to deal with folks that may have different options then yours. I have.

Test 1 – Photo JPEG – Send clip to AE. Apply filter. Save. Tab to PrP. See clip update. Close PrP. Open PrP. It took about 10 sec. for PrP to find AE DL clip
Test 2 – P2 – Same process. PrP took 4 seconds to find AE DL file.

Sorry Oliver, I misinterpreted what your issue was. I will run a similar quick test.
I can tell you that I keep my Media Cache and Media Cache Files folders on my system folder which is the default. I do remember a long time ago that when I moved them I did have issues. But time has clouded my memory of what the issues were.
Now I DO keep my Video and Audio Preview folders with the project on my raid array.
