Petros, I found a workflow that avoids the boggy issue.
1. Cut in PrP
2. Select clip on TL and send to AE as DL
3. Work on comp in AE.Save.
4. Check in PrP. Render in PrP if needed to view.
5. Refine back in AE. When satisfied, I export as DNxHD making sure I check “Project Link” in the AE export queue dialog box.
6. I import into PrP and replace the DL version of the clip on the timeline with the DNxHD movie.
7. If I need to change thing, I select clip and right click. Then select “Edit Original”. Boom, the AE project opens and I make revisions.Tom Daigon

Its a shame you are having such a challenging experience with your first foray in PrP.
I also edited on Avid (5 years MC and 10 on DS) as well as FCP. PrP and AE have really come into their own the last few years. I have used them on a Mac Pro and recently an HP Z820. Both were rock sold and reliable.
And from what Ive seen of CS7, most loose ends have been addressed by Adobe making this version the best yet.

Well it was worth a shot. I hate to say it, but it maybe time to think about uninstalling and reinstalling.
Has it always had this issue or did this develop over time?

You MUST place the presets folder you got with the Twitch download ( when you purchased )it in the After Effects presets folder.

Coming a little late to the party, did you ever try the Repair Permissions process? And while you are at it, did you also delete the prefs?

Having switched from Mac Pro with the Q4000 to a Z820 that I added a GX 570 to, I have so far been very happy with the performance boost. I think the well designed airflow in the computer keeps its temperature at a manageable level.

The dynmaic link in CS software really changed the game for revisions and opened the door to creativity as well.

When exporting to DNxHD (Qicktime) out of PrP I expereinced that until I changed the export setting from HD702 to RGB. No gamma shift,
