I would say its a result of extremely creative use of Photoshop and Illustrator elements in AE. Some of the multitudes of effects could be done with shape layers as well.

And extensive planning and design!

I just did a test using the HDX codec as the export codec. Here’s how it compares in terms of speed.

For a 3:03 1920 x 1080 23.937 music video that had quite a few effects.

1. DNxHD/QT took 6:28
2. UT/AVI took 7:09
3. HDX/AVI took 8:02 using the standard setting

Well, at this point I will stick with DNxHD since its a standard and exports pretty quickly.

Ah yes, I was looking for Edius or GV but not Canopus. Not having access to it in Premiere is surprising.

And is having to have AVI as the wrapper a limitation in any way?

Walter, I installed the GV codec (HQX) on my PC today. A rocky start at best. After installing I rebooted and looked for codec in PrP. AE and AME. It was nowhere to be found. I did a very detailed search under every possible option, so unless Im as blind as a bat, something is not kosher here.

AVCIntra is not the answer. It does not generate just one file, but separate audio and video with a plethora of folders. And I did not find a readily accessible player for viewing the resulting MXF files. I guess I will stick with DNxHD until something better comes along, despite the slower export.

Jon, sounds like you have some system problems.

Ive been using CS6 since its release and havent had any of the kind of problems you are experiencing.

Thats both on the Mac and PC.

Good idea but a moot point. I would never master to h.264. AVCIntra has been also mentioned as an alternative to QT or AVI wrapped codecs by someone who I have great respect for. I will explore that possibility.
