I should append what I said with the statement that Im to new to the PC to be sure what Im doing cant be done a better way. I just got used to one way of doing things and havent learned any alternative approaches 😀

Hi Alex. Thanks! Im glad you enjoyed it.

I am taking the analog audio out of the Kona 3 breakout box and feeding to inputs on my audio amplifier thats driving the speakers in the edit bay. I have always only gotten the PP-Kona 3 output this way, never computer system audio. I have the Mac Pro headphones output set on another input on my audio amplifier

So I never thought this was a problem.

No, the problem I experienced was the audio was intermittent when playing back in the PrP timeline. Sometimes it could be heard and sometimes it couldn’t be heard.

Xeons are crucial for working with large files like Red/Epic and alike.
I wanted a system that could handle a wide range of formats and codecs.
Overclocking seems to be implemented more by gamers and hobbyists. I know of no edit facilities or professionals that overclock. This is mostly due to the need for constant use (20 hours a day and 7 days a week).

If your workflow doesn’t encompass any of the above concerns, then I would encourage you to get the l7-overclocked system. 😀

I strongly suggest you stay away from AMD CPUs.

And I even more strongly suggest you contact Eric at ADK. If you want to get the best possible system bank for buck, he really is a good place to start. He knows his stuff and will help guide you to the kind of system you will be happy with.

Wow, so no folks here on a PC are using Kona 3, huh. Thats a surprise. I will wait to get some feedback from folks on the web before making the installation into the new HP Z820. No need to expend the energy if its not working right yet.
