I think our guy copied the project to the portable–akin to media managing. It’s explained in the help file. That put the database on the portable, including the project description. When I opened FCX, I opened the Project Library, it saw projects on the portable and I went right ahead and opened his project in progress. No new event or quit needed. It should work pretty slick once we understand how the structure is created. That was one of my first questions, how to share and collaborate on projects. Walt and Rich’s first take on it was overly negative.

Lot of Avid people saying I told you so. Never should have gone with Apple to begin with. I disagree. We went with FC because it was new in many ways. This is more new. We were due for a change.

Have to use Import from Camera, open archive. That gives me access to the clips within. Then import as needed. THANKS.

It’s not so much the capabilities of the various busses. PCIe is just as capable as Thunderbolt in terms of moving data. It’s how the ease of use and other advantages of Thunderbolt will affect product development for that connection as opposed to another. For example, AJA is developing new portable video I/O devices with Thunderbolt. They are talking about 4K throughput and the like. If all the good stuff is developed for Thunderbolt, we’ll all go there eventually and anything without it will be obsolete.

How about an automated video analyzer so you can, “Make it like that?”
