OT: really for the final cut X board but – the magnetise switches?

Looks more like a mask tool to me. Akin to “magic wand” in Photoshop.

User drawn shapes in Fcp would ultra cool. No more silly 8 point garbage matte.

That’s the same wand from iPhoto. Akin to auto color correction. Here it may be the auto color match. What he is talking about is beneath that. I thought it was just snapping on/off but there probably isn’t that option. Who would want to turn off magnetic timeline or snapping anyway? 🙂

Of course, that’s the automagic color tool. How could I be so foolish? A matte tool, well, that’s just stupid. Who needs that?

If this other tools you are talking abut are the buttons below that, it does look look like snapping, perhaps a waveform toggle,and then maybe some sort of trim/slip/slide tools, but wtf do I know about fcpx? Nada.

What is the superman sign in between the headphones? Stereo mix down? A coal to diamond squeezer?

Good catch. The icon all the way to the right looks like two clips butting up against each other, with little magnetic force lines emerging where they’re coming together. And the blue/gray states of the other buttons make it clear these are toggle switches that control timeline behavior.

Edit: Hmm, on second thought, a think that represents snapping. The icon all the way to the right could easily be the magnetic timeline toggle, however.

That is quite obviously, the Cylon rebellion switch.

That looks like it could be a choice between film strip style, iMovie wrapping style timeline or the more linear timeline of current FCP.

Just conjecture, I have no idea.

yeah – the thing I was thinking was that they have to give a snap controller as currently understood for frame accurate stamping – and then they have to give us the ability to invoke a fully magnetised timeline, which is snap on steroids really.. if the one on the right is snap, which I think is likely, the one on the left might be the on off for the collision detection part of the magnetised timeline…

I have begun to warm to this FCP X, he said quietly, I’m getting very curious as to what it will look and perform like in dual monitor configuration. I think there would be a lot of exposed functionality in that configuration. I might even feel like I was sitting on a smoke.

thats a browser layout button, a la “details view” as seen here:

versus the other browser layout button being the “filmstrip view” as seen here:
