don’t know if this applies, but if you had said you transferred P2 cards with this problem, I would have told you to check “remove duplicate frames” in the preferences. Not sure if AVCHD has this setting, but it was worth a answer as it may just solve your problem.
If this is the case, you will have to retransfer all your footage. -
can you add a firewire bus via the express 34 slot?
I have this issue with a clamshell dv deck and my AJA HD. Even though I have them on different buses (I added a bus when I purchased the AJA). My firewire drives work fine on this separate FW bus.

In a pinch, I have used my personal Canon HG10 to shoot a spot for a client that uses the Panasonic HVX200s.
No one has mentioned anything about quality differences and the spot has been broadcast on 2 different international networks.

as mentioned, if you haven’t paid for Flip4Mac, you don’t have the capability to do full exports.
I think the demo limits 30 seconds of export.I use the pro version and find it easy to use, and results in high quality & low file sizes.
Also, my pc clients have never had issues, as they do with quicktime.OT-isn’t it funny how all the pc folks need is to download quicktime to view these files, but I’ve had SEVERAL say they CANNOT view quicktimes. Go figure. Keeps Flip4Mac in the black.

If you use the Boris 3d Text, you can adjust each character individually, including the smaller size and baseline (which should raise it like your wanting).
FCP’s title doesn’t allow this to my knowledge, so I just usually leave a space and add another text layer.,
Boris is the easier, more convenient way.

in your first screen capture, on the top of the canvas, there is a “pill” button, that reads 74%, use that drop down button and make sure its set to “fit to window” (I think is the terms). That’s where to change the canvas.
I think its probably already set.
I think you probably have your sequence codec set at DV/NTSC.
This is a highly compressed codec, and it is very common to see thin, red text do this (as well as other colors).Change your sequence to at least dv50, try uncompressed 8-bit too. This may help a bit.

from what you said, sounds like you are working in DV (highly compressed).
Try working at something thats less compressed like DV50, uncompressed or animation.Once you find the right recipe, you should have very crisp results from motion.
As noted above, more details would help us narrow the problem and not guess like I did.

I am current with no issues (‘cept an AVID codec needed for delivery, not yet up to speed – DNx).
I too feel safely guarded with a clone. If I’m not mistaken there are at least 1 security fix in the OS. I like to stay as current as possible, especially when security fixes are included.
Other features I can’t really comment on for sure, I think a few added codecs or compatibility and some minor fixes is all you’ll notice.Do you have an AJA HD? IF so, I think one of the last 2 updates required a patch from them. I luckily heard about it on the cow prior to updating and saved myself a lot of troubleshooting.
Update with the confidence that if anything goes wrong, you can always go back to your working system rather easily.

I didn’t mean to try to highjack your post, but I thought my issue was so similar, I’d ask.
Funny thing is that Walter’s answer to you, worked for me.
I’m not sure if I wasn’t clear, but I think we were asking almost the same thing.
His answer to me was that he didn’t deliver data files, so he wasn’t sure.
The answer to your question sent you (and me) to search for Shane and compressor.I did this, and after a bit of trial and error, I got a much cleaner SD version of my HD project.
This turned out much better than exporting quicktime and importing into an SD sequence, although I had to go in and reposition a few graphics (before going to compressor), but I’m very happy with the higher quality. I can even read the small disclaimer text! The cow triumphs again!

cant get the links to work.
I’ll take a guess. What size are the pictures?
FCP will sometimes give less than stellar results when the pictures are too big.
