Yes. There are many NVIDIA and ATI cards that would work well. You can get 512 MB of DDR3 RAM on board for a decent price. I like XFX, BFG, or EVGA NVIDIA cards rather than ATI, but that’s a preference.

Try holding the Shift key when making your circle shape layer. That should constrain it to a circle.

Either one will work well for what you want. Personally, I like the G-Drive design, but I would also probably just put a hot-swappable SATA case in my computer and buy SATA drives as needed – reduce clutter around the workstation (ImaPC!).

I was taught that “em” is better for screen and use with CSS. You see a lot of people using pt size though. Check this out at w3c

Or seen bright text go green? Those were not within the legal broadcast range resulting in less than desirable results. Video and graphics need to be within the RGB range of 16 – 235. Granted, you don’t get very white whites, or very black blacks, but those are the standards that we live by in broadcast. There are lots of online articles on this.

Dave may have hit it. You may need to convert the file first. Check with Sony, but if you need something quick in the meantime, try MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5. It should convert the file to whatever you need easy enough.

Is it imported video that stutters? Or do graphics created in AE or PS stutter as well when motion is added? The video may be at a different frame rate than your comp.
As far as importing the AVI files… Sounds like they were rendered using a codec that your machine doesn’t have. Can you play them with Windows Media Player? Do you know where the AVI files are originating?

Dustin – if you are new to the Mask tool in AE, you’ll want to read help on how to adjust it. It may not appear as friendly as what you’re used to with FCP, but it works well. I use both methods mentioned pretty frequently.
