In the AME queue , if you select H264 on the format dropdown, then select say “Match Source – High Bitrate”, you only get the Target bit rate showing up? If you change to VBR 2-pass, does it do the same thing?
You may need to consider trying to install AME again.

Any specific reason you need under 1GB? That is really small for 120 minutes. What image size do you need to maintain? If it is a 1080 project, can you drop it down to 720? Also, does the audio matter? If it has surround, or even stereo, can you deal with mono at a lower bit rate? These are all things that can affect the file size.

So they are XAVC in a MXF? I’m just trying to figure out the video codec. h.264 is really processor intensive – especially at 4k. I don’t use XAVC or an F7 – but I think that it uses a form of h.264, you can correct me if I’m wrong. But you can use MediInfo app to find out what the codec is – or VLC should even tell you. But, yes, in the instance of h.264, ProRes or DNx are better options for editing. Then if you have a lot of effects on top of it, and a number of large still images, you will slow down the processing considerably on any system. Adobe/FC/AVID – but I’m guessing Resolve as well…

Are you on VBR 1-pass or VBR 2-pass? Or does the same on both? It sounds like you are on CBR – that only gives Target option.

mxf is pretty broad. What video codec is in those mxf files? And if you have extra large still image files, those can slow the system as well. Any effects on your 4k footage?

What John said. If you lose a bunch of work, you can try creating a new project and import your main sequence from the old project into the new project.
Let us know what what works and what you come up with!

  • I would probably port this over to AE rather than try and make PPro do something it’s not quite suited for.

I would just go with the 1.5TB RAM. Excess is what’s needed here. LOL!
I just wonder what they charge for 1.5TB of RAM loaded into it…

I’ve been running Mojave for a while now on my Late 2013 Mac Pro – I’m on v10.14.5 now. I am one update behind on PPro, but that’s because I’ve had a lot going on recently. Otherwise I’d have been there already. But it’s been running great! As always, your mileage may vary.
