Have you applied the After Effects CS4 (9.0.2) update? I think that this script was fixed in that update.

On the first frame, t is less than 0.05. What does the footage that you exported from Final Cut Pro look like if you play it in another application, like QuickTime Player? Is it pixelated in other applications, too? If so, then the problem is not on the After Effects side.

> note that if you happen to be using a drive formatted as fat-32, there is a file size limit to that drive structure. it’s an old format, but is still used for mac/pc compatibility. i can’t remember the limit, but i believe it is around 2gb.

That message that you get on startup is misleading to the point of being useless. There’s really no value at all in knowing how much RAM After Effects is using to start up.
Regarding the 3GB part: After Effects CS4 is a 32-bit application, so the theoretical maximum that it can use (per process) is 4GB. The operating system actually hogs some of that, so After Effects really gets a maximum of 3GB allocated to the foreground process. There’s a lot more detail in this section, including the comments at the bottom of each page.
If you use Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously multiprocessing on a 64-bit operating system, then After Effects will start additional instances of itself that each get to use a few GB to render frames in parallel. So, your 12GB won’t go to waste.
BTW, the 4GB per process limitation of 32-bit applications is why you should be happy about this: “Future versions of After Effects will be 64-bit”

What, exactly, are you doing to initiate the RAM preview?
(Since you posted this in the basics forum, I’m just trying to rule out the possibility that you aren’t clear on terminology. Some people say that they’re doing a RAM preview when they’re actually pressing the spacebar and doing a “standard preview”.)
