HI Walter,

Once you choose a NEW codec for your sequence, FCP will update and un-render everything that will need to be render with the new codec. So anything that will need rendering will be an original render.

There’s a filters tab in Compressor that should give you enough options to desaturate the image. I’ve used them before we some good results.
BUT, before you spend a lot of time compressing, test, test, test! Once you lock in a ‘look’ you can save it as a preset, then apply it to the rest of the clips you want to effect.

Hi Peter,

No, you don’t need to render to export or send to compressor. FCP will redraw each frame of as it’s exporting or compressing. Only when exporting to tape do you need to render all.

I don’t worry about render everything before exporting, I only render for playback or to verify effects.

Hi Tom,

Hard drives are a big culprit for issues like this too. You should have more than 30% of your hard drive available before you start to capture. Especially for sync that drifts. Make sure the Limit Capture/Export file size segment is unchecked.

It sounded like you’re using an older version of FCP (?), I think one version a while back had a Cannon sync checkbox, if so you should probably verify if that’s a feature on your FCP.

Do you have ‘in and out points’ set in the sequence?
If so, it will only export what’s included between the in & out.

Are you trying to export a quicktime movie without the top & bottom bar?
Or are you referring to the display with FCP?

The trademark symbol is option+2.

For 2 names to scroll on the same line, you’ll just need to include both names on the line (I use Boris for this) and either separate them with spacing or tabbing.

Hi Evan,

The droplet is definitely the most elegant solution, (not sure why you’re getting an audio cut off?), but I’ve always just opened QuickTime and export out to AIFF. Matches exactly to the source.
