Brand new mouse…I don’t think it’s a mouse problem, it’s probably a surface problem. Shinny, reflective, pattern, etc surfaces will make it impossible for a optical mouse to move correctly. Find a solid, flat, medium color paper, move it around on that, see how it works. Probably solve the jumping around.
I have a nice Logitech mouse on a black semi gloss surface, couldn’t use it at all. I printed a full sheet of gray, cut it to my desk, taped it down, now it works great.Good Luck,

For that long, I would be thinking Fibre only.
Canare (I think, saw it at NAB) makes a BOB for analoge/digital video for Fibre. So what you do is run your ‘normal’ cables into the BOB, then run Fibre to the BOB on the other end, up to 5,000(?)ft. Nice and Clean. But, Charlie is right, is cost money, but worth looking into.Good Luck,

Actually I have noticed a similar problem with one of a matching set of XL-1S. Kind of a green shift. I went into the color setting and tried to adjust it away, but that didn’t work.
I probably need to send the camera in to be check….
Sorry no answers, but the same kind of problem.Todd at UCSB

August 8, 2005 at 5:04 am in reply to: how do I get 640 4:3 media into 720 4:3 program … HELP!!!Sorry, Jim is right. If you try to convert the footage, it won’t look great, plus it will take a LOT longer.

It’s more of an honor system for the educational FCP.
Although, when FCP launches, it does say Academic. So I don’t know if you could upgrade a Academic to a retail?
It should say Academic, not retail. If you call, Apple will probably set you straight on that one.
Obvisouly, it’s not suppose to work that way…Todd at UCSB

Thanks Floh,
Quck follow up, what does the Raid 50 do? I understand about Raid 0, 3, 5, but does the Raid 50 take both of the Raid 0’s and group them as one?
If true, then what’s the differance than doing a Raid 0 accross the whole 8?Also, do you use a Raid 5 configuration? We’re trying to minimize data loss.
Thanks,

July 19, 2005 at 6:16 pm in reply to: Live Event Recording (DV) – While outputing 2nd copy to VHS!Hi,
Rob is correct. You might want to take a small monitor & hook it up to the deck. THis way you’ll know if you getting video. Plus turning off the ‘on-screen’ is a little trick. If you still have your remote, then there is an ‘on screen’ button that turns off the display to the deck without turning off the display in the viewfinder.Good Luck,

We’ve run across the same problem, but we use Pioneer’s (better without a Start up Menu) At first, they were making Prosumer/Pro decks, but slowing have done any with the high end decks.
Fortunatly, we have a real duplication center/router so all of our analogue sources run thru a router with VU meters.
The only time we don’t monitor is when were recording thru FW, which you can’t control the level anyway!
Getting a meter would be a must for good recordings to DVD. Otherwise you’ll clip audio.Good Luck,

Hi Brian,
We use a Panasonic 955(d) or something like that. It’s doesn’t realy matter about the deck. It’s where the deck is going & how it get’s there. We have another deck the is a DVCAM deck with an SDI out into a Media 100 HD system. But you could hook up any deck to ANY system as long as the footage was digitized to 4:2:2 color space and uncompressed. (of course the quality and results will depend a lot on the codec that is used) If your only using Component, then there are several choices for both Mac and PC that will do the job.I have been using our Media 100 844xi for chroma key work, since it has a good keyer and can do it realtime with additional layers. I’ve also taken some more challenging keys into AE and done a 3 Pass key with Keylight. There is plenty of tricks, workflows, apps, etc to do what you want, it all depends on your equipments, $$, time, edit system, etc.
Also, heed what others have suggested about cameras. I don’t think you’d be that happy with a MiniDv camera compared to a betacam.
What Studio in SB? (i’ve worked for a couple of them 🙂
You should fill out your bio, that way I’ll have a better idea of where you’re coming from.
If you want to contact me again, feel free to email me since this thread is getting a little long.
